Tutorial: More light to pictures

by - 1/23/2014 01:07:00 PM

I've had a lot of trouble in the northern hemisphere with it's darkness.
It seems almost impossible to photograph good and clear pictures of the pages.
And I know I'm not the only one.
So here is a simple example how to get more light to pictures.
Goes with both, digital or SLR camera. And of course fits to photographing anything else too.
Easy and cheap!

Here is where I usually photograph my creations. On our kitchen table. Big window gives natural light. If I put that lamp on, it gives shades and yellow light to the picture, and makes all the real colors look wrong.
Sometimes I use a bright light bulb to help, but I prefer natural light whenever possible.

Tässä yleensä kuvaan tuotokset. Keittiön pöydällä. Iso ikkuna antaa luonnonvaloa.

Here is the solution for us, who don't want to buy expensive photographic products:
the foil and cutting board.
Cutting board can be replaced with anything in same or bigger size - cardboard, book, you name it.

Cover one side of the cutting board with foil.
Let it wrinkle and secure with tape if you want to.

Hold the board up to the light, it reflects the light to the other side of your page.
Now there is no shadows on your page, and it's completely clear!

Here is example of photographing with and without foil covered board.
You'll see the order yourself ;)
...homemade cookies, mmm....
And for the last, here's a picture of the layout I post for CSI yesterday.

...vastaleivotut piparit, mmm...
Ja vielä lopuksi kuva eilisestä CSI sivustani.

Hope you enjoy this little tip :)

Toivottavasti vinkistä on iloa :)
